Content
Seaside, a boutique hotel chain on the coast, found itself trapped between its offline and online worlds. On-site, the experience was magical—guests loved the coastal vibe, the sense of calm, and the carefully curated interiors. Online, however, the story was completely different. Their website felt outdated, generic, and slow to use, leaving potential guests unimpressed. Worse, most bookings were coming through third-party platforms like Booking.com, which not only reduced profits but also eroded the brand’s direct relationship with guests. Seaside wanted to reposition itself as a premium lifestyle destination, but without a strong digital identity, that ambition was stuck at the shoreline.
Solution
We approached Seaside’s redesign as if we were building a digital version of their guest experience. Instead of starting with templates, we focused on storytelling. Large-scale photography, immersive video snippets, and a natural color palette were introduced to echo the real-world charm of the hotels. We streamlined the booking process into a few clear steps, ensuring that guests could move from inspiration to reservation without friction. The typography was chosen to combine elegance with readability, while layouts emphasized open, airy spaces—just like the Seaside experience itself. Alongside design, we worked on content strategy, weaving in narratives about the coastal lifestyle, sustainability efforts, and local culture to deepen the emotional connection.
Challenge
Balancing beauty with performance was a recurring challenge. High-quality visuals are critical for travel brands, but they can easily slow down websites, frustrating mobile users. We spent weeks fine-tuning optimization, compressing assets, and running speed tests to make sure Seaside’s site was both visually rich and lightning fast. Another challenge was integrating the booking engine, which had been a rigid third-party tool. We collaborated closely with developers to create a seamless integration that didn’t break the immersive design. Lastly, aligning the expectations of hotel managers—who wanted luxury vibes—with marketing teams—who pushed for fast conversions—required delicate compromise and consistent communication.
Result
Within three months of launch, Seaside saw direct bookings rise by 60%, reducing dependence on third-party platforms and boosting margins. Guest feedback praised the ease of use, with many commenting that the website “felt like being there before arriving.” The brand successfully repositioned itself, moving upmarket and attracting a new demographic of design-conscious travelers. The digital transformation not only improved immediate bookings but also established Seaside as a lifestyle brand that could compete with larger players while staying true to its boutique charm.
